What are your reactions to the following:
Music has been my life for over 20 yrs.; performing, writing, recording. I have played and appreciated most all forms, from big band, through early rock & roll, then the Beatles and the psychedelic era, then the 70's. The 80's I wasn't too keen on, but there were some solid disco tunes. I've played country, polkas, you name it.
I'm working on my 3rd album of original material.
I've done my fair share of hard rock. I love Pink Floyd, Santana, Cream, some of the Who, some Van Halen.
Now...take a look at how present day upper middle class kids are shuckin', jivin', and pimpin' like the popular rap stars.
I'm not talking about dress fashion.
Somehow, I just don't seem to recall previous generations imitating the personalities of the decade. I don't remember teens imitating Nat Cole, Chuck Berry, Otis Redding, Jimi Hendrix, etc.
BUT
here's all these little white "mall rats" pimpin' like they're gangstas.
What's your take?
