when kids go to college, their mothers usually dump their old guitars and drumsets they bought them. Either they give them to their friends' children, or they put them in pawn shops cheap. see if you can find someone like this. good luck!

Go to http://www.freecycle.org/ search for a group in your area, once you join you can ask for a drum set if anyone has one to give but you should also offer something (on a different post) read the rules.

One time on Alice Coopers radio show some kid sent an e-mail and told him he had a band but no equipment and Alice Donated some equipment and asked his rock star buddies to donate too.
try something like that..it worked for that kid.
