how did you learn how to work all the mixers and all thoguhs crazy button and knobs and stuff on the mixers and beat machines cause i seen them and they are crazy lol i want to learn how to produce music but im worried about not knowing what to do also how do you no what to put in your studio... is there a good college that teaches you all this stuff cause if i dont work with music i am lost i am in highschool and next year is my last year so i am trying to plan

Does one need to have instrumental talent and experience to major in recording arts technology?

I'm enrolled in DeVry University in Alpharetta, Georgia, as a video game programming student, and I hate it. I'm interested in getting involved in recording arts, but I have no musical experience at all. I would love to learn to play either guitar, bass, drums, or keyboard, but even learning them now does not mean I'll be good. I will only get good after years and years of hard practice. So, to get involved in recording arts, would I need to audition and be able to play something already?
