I barely listen to current music at all because I haven't found much I like. I'm happy with old bands but would like to see what's out there. I like a hard-edged, gritty sound - you know, something that comes from the soul, not overproduced. I'm a big fan of eighties punk (Clash, DKs, etc.), 50 Foot Wave, Dropkick Murphys, etc. I'm looking to hear some stuff that's not acoustic and pretty. Maybe like the White Stripes but less pretentious? Also, I generally like to avoid lead singers with high, whiny voices.

Thank you anybody with any recommendations. I feel old and want to try listening to something from the current music scene but it just seems like everything out there is no good.

i like Green day and the red hot chili peppers, but they seem to be the only good rock bands out there that aren't trying to be anything. as far as i know, the red hot chili peppers are distantly related to both punk and funk. and green day gave up punk midway in their career, which was a really good idea. anyway, what is needed, do you think?

For our class sweatpants, we need a design...and im thinking having it say Eagles(our mascot) and then our graduation year...and then a name of a song...for example "smack that" but its a catholic all girls high school and the nuns would definitely not approve that. so what is a good name of a song, or just a short saying that could go on the butt of the sweatpants...and also on the leg. im thinking a recent song that the nuns couldnt figure out is dirty just by the name, but that the entire class would know is:] hahaha
