Laurie Berkner, according to ABC News, is a music phenomenon comparable to Elvis-- but only among pre-schoolers and their parents. Originally working hard to fulfill her dream of becoming a rock star, she began teaching music to little kids as her day job, and is now a mega-star among the mini-set. What do you think of her music, and how would you categorize her among kiddie icons such as the wonderful Shari Lewis, the possibly not quite so well remembered Miss Frances (Frances Horwich of "Ding Dong School"), the Jim Henson phenomenon-- or other possible comparisons that occur to you? I am interested but out of touch, as my former Muppet, Ninja Turtle and Power Ranger fans are taller than me now, and rising managers. (They love to perform music, perhaps partly as a result of the early influence of mega-stars such as Kermit and Miss Piggy.) I have never heard Laurie except in the ABC news clip, but how could we help but love such stars?
