Do the Idol judges see every contestant in those screaming arena's, or are there preliminary auditions, not in front of the main judges, that filter out contestants beforehand?

Would like to hear from someone who actually has gone through the process.

Why have they changed the music to the songs, did the composer have a fall out with the production company? It's really annoying and now the songs aren't as good, my son doesn't like it as much now.

I can't really remember much about the song other than it was a rap/hip hop song performed by a bunch of preppy-looking white guys. In the video they're wearing khakis and sweater vests. I think the lyrics were pretty standard rap fare, maybe with a satirical twist. Basically they were bragging about their sexual virility and earning power and swearing a lot. I saw part of the video on a show called farmclub.com about five years ago and I haven't been able to find the song again. All guesses are welcome.
