I know that the law firm Tom Cruise was working in was a shady organization that dealt with the Mafia and they were overcharging the clients, but why did his wife agree to spend the night with Gene Hackman? Is it because she wanted to photocopy some papers in his storeroom, and if so, how did Holly Hunter get the papers from her so fast? I thought the photocopy machine was in the law firm building a floor below, and not in Gene Hackman's house? I'm giving up on John Grisham cos I don't understand a lot of his work.

I've just started watching this show in the past week and have been trying to get caught up as much as possible.
However, I'm impatient and need to know EXACTLY what happened to his leg, cos it's not been addressed in the eps I've seen.
I've heard it had something to do with a blood clot, and somehow his ex-wife screwed it up, but I hear different versions and would prefer an exact answer.
