While watching Pursuit of Happyness, I wondered why is it that a able bodied, young, SMART, likeable, able to sell himself man with military experience didn't just get a normal job during the 6 month internship. I thought it was crazy to have a child homeless when he could have been at McDonalds or sell those boxes on the side. Why?? I know he was black, and it is harder to get a job as a black person, but if he could get an internship at a prestigious firm, then surely he could get a job in the mean time somewhere else while being at his intership.

Looking for movie name where man finds severed ear in field?

All I remember is this young man walking in or near a grassy area and looking down and finding a severed ear. I saw this movie on vhs in the late 80's and can't remember the name. Help please!
