The "wah wah wah waah" muted trumpet sound is usually used in TV shows, from Sesame Street to comedies (though it's cliched at this point) to indicate disappointment or ironic situations. People usually make that sound in conversations or even in blog posts. Where did this originate from and who was the first to use this? I suspect vaudevillian roots, but am unsure.

Anybody familiar with Wanda Sykes? I like her and think she is funny and attractive, but I have a hard time getting past her sarcastic, cynical outlook on life.

She seems to have a pretty good career going playing wise-cracking black best-friends of white women.

A bloke goes to see his doctor
He says Doc I've been having these really bad stomach pains and trouble going to the toilet.
His Doc tells him, I'm going to prescribe you some supositories, take them twice a day for a week.
A week later the bloke is back at his doctors.
He says those tablets you gave me, they didn't work at all.
His doc asks him, what did you do swallow them??
The man replies, well what did you think I did with them, shove them up my a***???
