Steve Burns did not die. The very last Episode before Joe showed up. Steve Went to college. In real life he quit. It was all a rumor started by teenagers. Teenagers that Claims Blues Clues is "GAY".
Some actually said he committed suicide, some said he died from being on the show too much. NONE OF IT IS TRUE!

Apparantly not:

"Nothing puts a crimp in your day like finding out you're dead, as Steve Burns can well attest.

The claim that Burns died of a heroin overdose first popped up on the Internet in 1998, according to the producers of "Blue's Clues," the kids' show that made the actor famous. No one knows precisely how or why the rumor began. At one point it was spreading so fast that Burns' own mother heard it and phoned him to make sure he was still alive (details from E! Online).

No, but in the fall of 1998, an urban legend began circulating on the Internet that Steve had died from a heroin overdose. To counter this rumor, he appeared on The Rosie O'Donnell Show on November 12, 1998 to confirm his continued good health. So he's still alive.

No, the honest story is that once they get to a certain age, the networks cut them loose because they are getting "too old" to play the role and they don't want the kids to get bored and the show to run down. They replaced Steve with Joe and now they are replacing Joe for the same thing.

He did not die, but I heard and probably an untruth that he was fired for writing felony bad checks and they asked him to resign or be fired. He finished his last two shows by introducing Joe to get his contract $.
