A reasonable price for a lightsaber?

My dads birthday is coming up, and he is a huge Star Wars fan. He has wanted a lightsaber (not a REAL one, obviously) all his life.. My mum and I have been looking around, and I was wondering what a reasonable price for a lightsaber would be.. Or an average price.. We want to get him a replica of the one Luke Skywalker used in Episode VI, and I have seen some for AU $250 and some for US $35. We want one that is functional, and an 'exact' replica. Some of the ones we were looking at didn't seem to retract. If someone could help me determine an average price, or if they own one that is 'good' to give me a link of some product information I would be really grateful. Thanks.
