This is a sick question but I need to know. So if the train goes at 100mph, hits a cow, the animal remains will splatter about for quite a long stretch of the track. But how long? Also, do you know how long this splatter would be if the train hit a badger, deer or any medium-sized animals? How about human remains? Honestly, I'm not being sick I need to know this.

I have actually spotted a multi-unit of a WAG-7 and a WAG-5 hauling an empty rake at SC. Can multi-units of dissimilar locomotives (diesel) be built? Say can there be a WDM-3A and a WDG-3A? Or a WDM-2A with a WDM-3D?

This is probably due in part to the fact that I am an American living in a semi-rural town outside of any major public transportation, but I have no real idea why trains are numbered. Any trainspotters out there that can help a guy out?

so that you always waste your time asking the staff if its the right train.?

would it really cost a fortune and drain the best brains of the land to put the destination in nice big clearly visible letters on the front of the train..so you can see its destination as it pulls into the station?

I've just had to travel through Bristol by train and from the East, the 1/2 mile before Bristol Temple Meads would put me off visiting Bristol completely, it looks so run down.

For me, Plymouth is nice from the West

Last year, John Armitt, boss of Network Rail, received a £270,000 bonus.

He has as good as admitted liability for the Cumbria rail crash, so should he offer this as some form of compensation to the relatives of the woman who lost her life (out of his own pocket). I think it's the least he could do.

I am an expat living in the US worked on the Western Region as a secondman, recently while scoping out my old manor on Google Earth I saw that the down track appeared to be torn up just at the junction of Old Oak Common Depot. I assume electrification was deemed too expensive . Have any preservation groups used the old route to Brum or has it all gone to Sh##
