Can someone tell me how a helicopter is able to lift straight up into the air?
Just wondering - heard a boy at school say helicopters can do so.
Thanks!

We were on what I think you call the glide path to landing in Kansas City - the hub of a now defunct airline. I believe the plane was a DC3 or 737. As we were about to land, the pilot powered back up and we circled and finally landed. No word from the pilot or flight attendants about why. Any ideas?

I know I can't fly a plane. I don't know if the criteria are the same for flying helicopters.

Has anyone learnt to fly?
I really want to..maybe as a career.

I have heard its really expensive...
and do you have to go through lots of training.. like.. erm.. ive read somewhere you have to join the RAF or something?!

How long does it take to learn?

And how hard is it?

Thanks

It shows a map of the US and you can click on the "dots" which are planes currently in the sky and it'll tell you what plane it is. I've been to this site before but I can't seem to find it again. It seems like something that the government wouldn't want the average person to be able to view, but it was a normal site on the internet. Has anyone else been to this site?

I'm a huge WWII RAF airplane buff, and I would love to learn how to fly a Supermarine Spitfire. I know there are many flying Spitfires left, but how can I learn to fly one. I live in the U.S. Are there specialty flying schools that teach WWII aviation?

What a beautiful plane, such a shame they decommissioned it and seemingly never built a next stage version (unless rumours of the Aurora etc are true).
