The tech stock bubble of the early 2000's, is a GREAT example of the prices of a sector going from very high to very low in a short period of time. As I understand the postulate of the Efficient Market Theory, this means that the true fair market price and value of tech stocks must have dropped as well. That is nonsense!

I would like a supporter of Efficient Markets to please explain how stock market bubbles and their bursting is consistent with an efficient market.

My brother is starting a small business and I would like to invest - partly to help fund the venture, partly to (hopefully) reap some rewards if it goes well.

How should I go about making the investment? I'm not worried that he would elope with the money, but I do want some sort of agreement that, should the business start to make money, then I get X amount in return. Can you show me any example contracts (good websites?)?

Are there any tax benefits/implications? This will be under UK law.

Thanks

I have my money invested in several mutual funds with a large mutual fund company. What happens if said mutual fund company goes bankrupt, maybe after fraud or an accounting scandal? Is my money insured in any way, or is it gone?

I did a search on international equity mutual funds and they've performed well in the past few years; however, the majority have a very poor "since inception" rate of return. There seems to be a period around 2000 where the international market suffered.
