What happened at the end of world war 2 to die hard nazis? I heard something about japaneese troops not knowing the war was ended due to being stuck on remote islands. I guess there were no similar things in Europe due to the geography?

I browsed on TV and saw a German Goalkeeper in Soccer (football) with the last name of Kahn. I thought of Ghengis Khan.

Now I know Ghengis "spread his seed" around Europe when we was sacking towns in Eastern and Central Europe. What are the chances this is an adopted name from those cultures???

The cause of WW1 is quite straight forward as we all know. However, WW2 revolves around much complexicity. There were the meglo-maniac like Hitler, for instance. But what I what to know is did Chamberlain's policy of apeasement allow WW2 to take shape? and even though it was claimed that WW2 was inevitable, why did Chamberlain wait all the way till Hitler tried to conquer Poland, to finally go to War?
