Hitler knew inevetably that the United States would enter the war, Hitler also knew that the US had embargoed the oil to Japan because of what the Japanese where doing to China. Japan was plenty mad at this fact because they wanted to advance their forces throughout the pacific. Hitler allied with Japan in order to split the US forces. Hitler as well as Japan knew of the (though we were still in depression at the time before Dec. 7, 41') possible industrial might of the United States. By spliting the US forces they believed that they would have a swift victory over the allies since Britain wasn't on the offensive but the defensive, France had already been taken, Russia was also on the defensive and if Japan could crush our Navy at Pearl Harbor. By the US joining Britain, Hitler knew that they could turn to they offensive and begin to attack Germany, by spliting our force he thought that he had enough military strength to still keep us on the defensive. If the Axis powers had won the war believe me when i say that Hitler would have attacked Japan. But they lost so poopoo on them.

I seem to remember they taught history at school but some correspondents must have been asleep in class. In September,1940 Japan,Germany and Italy signed a pact of mutual co-operation in the event of their being attacked. This brought into being what became known as The Axis Powers. Britain and Germany were at war at this time but America was not attacked until December,1941. While many countries including Germany knew the principles of making an atomic bomb none had done so at that time (1941).

Japan had a conflict with the US which support China at that time.
Military authorities had control and power in the government and there were 2 factions in there. Japan Navy had been insisting Japan should accord with UK and US. The other were against those. However, the Ministry of the Navy, Mr. Zengo Yoshida, couldn't success to convince other diet members and he resigned.
Japan was thinking it is unfair cos western nations, UK, Germany, Russia, France etc, had have colony or land in the Asia.
I think, probably, Japan didn't want to lose any power against Asia.
So they chose the way not to compromise with US.

The Nazis did not look down on "all" other races, and certainly the Germans, per se, did not. The Nazis considered certain races inferior, to be sure, and there were those among the Nazis who did not agree with an alliance with Japan for racial reasons. But Hitler, while an idealogue in many regards, was also eminently practical. He saw an advantage in an alliance with Japan, so he simply overlooked any racial considerations. The same thing happened later on when the Grand Mufti of Palestine, an Arab Muslim, allied himself with the Nazis and raised the 13th Waffen SS division. Incorporating Arabs into the SS, which was supposed to be the embodiment of the Aryan ideal, required certain "adjustments" in the racial propaganda.

Japan desperately wanted oil, and felt the Americans were stopping them getting it, hence there bombing of Pearl Harbor. Hitler had two reasons for supporting Japan: first he thought the Japanese, who were already in East Asia, would attack Russia from the East preventing Stalin bringing reinforcements from the East to fight his troops in Western Russia, and secondly, he thought that the Americans would only fight the Japanese and it would stop them (the Americans) from joining the war on Britain's side against him.
It was one of Franklin D Roosevelt's greatest achievements that he managed to persuade the US Congress to make Germany the number 1 enemy ahead of Japan.

It was merely a pact of convenience, just as the pact with Stalin in 1939. With common enemies, as mentioned above, Hitler would've made a pact with the devil. If the war went Hitler's way in the West, i'm sure he would've eventually turned on Japan just like he did the Soviets.

Actually they didn't work together that much. There were Axis contacts of course but in the main the Japanese stuck to their theatre of war (Pacific Ocean and Far East) and the Germans to theirs (Europe and North Africa). There were no major coordinated campaigns. It was a case of "My enemy's friend is my enemy".

Germany and Japan were not working together. They only bombed Pearly Harbour and came into the war because they realsied everyone else was busy fighting and not watching what they were doing and thought they'd try their luck invading USA and not realsied they had the atom bomb. This is also how USA came to join the war and help us!

The Japanese were the only other race to have the same opinion, ie that they were the chosen race and that everyone else was below them. They had already genetically cleansing half of Asia by the start of WW2
