Some of the answers are good and some are asanine. The Treaty of Versaille which limited German power is a starter. In 1929, the Wall Street Crash created a situation whereby the German Economy fell through the floor. Hitler, whose mother was Catholic and father Jewish, was a little pissed off. Obviously. He won two Irpn Crosses for his activities during WWI. German pride and nationalism, despite him being Austrian, created a situation where the people were happy to think "why should we put up with this ****". The main reason for his attacks on Poland et. al is resources. Germany has a lot of coal but does not have much iron and therefore to expand his empire he needed resources. There is little difference between his imperialism and that of other historical empires. It's all to do with history. Try reading Merriman's "History of Europe: Renaissance till the modern time" to get an idea. Germany as a country has only existedsince 1869. It's younger than the US. I could go on, but wont.

When did World War Two begin?
World War Two in Europe began on 3rd September 1939, when the Prime Minister of Britain, Neville Chamberlain, declared war on Germany. It involved many of the world's countries.

Why did the Second World War start? Germany took over Austria and Sudetenland (a region in Czechoslovakia) before the war and was soon threatening the rest of Europe too. The Second World War was started by Germany in an unprovoked attack on Poland. Britain and France declared war on Germany after Hitler had refused to abort his invasion of Poland.

The second war started on the 1st of September if you're Polish as that's when the Germans turned up and gatecrashed from the west, whilst simultaneously the Soviets introduced themselves from the east. Hitler and Stalin, what a pair of wacky guys they were eh? They don't make 'em like that any more.

Many historians argue that the Second World War actually started with the signing of the 1919 Treat of Versailles that ended World War One, as the penalties imposed on Germany were so harsh that their economy was bound to fail, and that led to the rise of Hitler and his Nazis.
