Other - Spain

Hi. I am going to Spain for spring break as part of an extra benefit of one of the scholarships I recieved. The airfare and hotel will be paid for. I am just concerned about how much money I should be prepared to spend over there for food or if I decide to do some shopping. Are things more expensive over there? What about the current exchange rate for the american dollar and the euro? Thanks for your feedback.

I normally buy in Belguim but I understand prices are a lot less in mainland Spain, (Canaries prices no good - not in EU unfortunately)

I arrive at MADRID airport at 16.30 and leave the following day on a 13.40 flight. Should I go into the centre of Madrid overnight or stay closer to the airport. It would be nice to have an everning in Madrid but I am a bit worried about getting back out to the airport in time for check in. Any info on transport links and hotels to stay in would be appreciated. Thanks.......

i´m not the sort of person who goes out at midnight to a bar and gets smashed like most americans who are in spain. i also dont go sit in a cafe and read, im not a dork. i really woudl liek to go out for a run, but apparently in spain you can only run in a park. theres no parks that i can find near where i live. peopl are ignoring me, im despairing. what can i do in salamanca, spain in order to not despair until june, the end of my sentence.
