probably between $500 and $1000 dollars round trip depending on which you airline you fly with and when you go. Expedia has some good deals and it can also be cheaper if you dont book a nonstop flight. Check out airline websites like Alitalia or Lufthansa. Sometimes they have really good deals. but before you buy a ticket, really investigate alot of websites. Enjoy your trip.

well how much is the flight - that depends. i went from chicago to madrid for 720$ student rate. tahts high season. if youre not a student, it will be about double in high season, or less in low season.
we sure dont know how much money you shoudl take with you when you go because we dont know where in spain youre giong or what youre giong to do or how long you will stay. but dollar euro conversion is killing right now. I traded in $100 and got 76 euros. it wont get better for a while, will probably get worse. a euro buys you about the same as a dollar though. so it will be expensive is all i can say. average meal in a restaurnt can cost you between 10 and 15 euros.

I would agree with the other estimates. I've taken Iberia out of Chicago, but I think my flights are more expensive because it's a direct flight. If you don't go direct, it's cheaper, and it would be cheaper through expedia or something similar. I would take maybe 50 euros with me and use debit cards to take other money out. The Telebancos work the same as our ATMs. Just let your bank (and credit card companies) that you'll be out of the country. If they don't know you're gone, they'll shut down your account because they'll think someone stole your cards.

how long is a piece of string?
Depends! what time of year you are going, how long for, how far in advance you book, where in Spain you are going, what you want to do there, what your desired comfort level is......
Absolute cheapest air fare probably $500+ (in winter)

Look for charter airlines, not Flag ones. They're cheaper.
