Newton's method does not converge quadratically for the following problem. Accelerate the convergence using the Aitken's (triangle in square) method.
Iterate until |q[n]-q[n-1]|<10^(-4);
for (x)^2 - 2*x*(e)^(-x) + e^(-2x)= 0, [0, 1]

Thank you for any provided info regarding this problem!!!

How do you solve- what is the answer to:

log2(x) + log2(x + 2) = 3

I did this:

log2(x) + log2(x + 2) = 3
log2((x)(x+2)) = 3
log2(x^2 +2x) = 3
2^3 = x^2 +2x
8 = x^2 +2x
0 = x^2+2x - 8
o = (x+4)(x-2)
x = 4, -2

and I am wrong - please Help!!! Ist correct answer gets best answer
