1) Is an equation with cubed in it at anytime a hyperbola? I mean, will you get a hyperbola with a function with 'cubed' in it?

2) How do solve an equation with cubed in it? For example, 2^3 + 4 = 12. i know its easy, but how do u properly solve it?

3) x^2/a^2 - y^2/b^2...the hyperbola function..HOW DO YOU DO IT!!!! lol

4) How do you get a parabola that is facing left or right, not up or down?

One of my professors had this comic on his door- it shows a cat looking at a table with many triangles and angles drawn on it, as if the cat was calculating serious trig before making its jump.

Does anyone know where I can find this online? I'd love to have a copy of it!!!

hey guys : a problem with this sequence : u(n) = n²(2/3)^n
i found in a book that :
lim n²(2/3)^n = o
but i don't get it, cause as far as i know :
lim n² = +infinity and lim (2/3)^n = 0 lim n²(2/3) = +infinity x 0 wich is an indefinite form....
help me know why it would be 0, i'd really appreciate it ...

ok, the question is to find the limit as x approaches infinity of (x^3 - 5x^2 + x + 2)^(1/3) - x

I know that as x goest to infinity the small powers of x and the constants become insignificant, and the problem becomes
(x^3 - 5x^2)^(1/3) - x = or x(1 - 5/x)^(1/3) - x

but I don't see how you go from

x(1-5/x)^(1/3) - n
to:
x(1 - 5/(3x) + O(1/x^2)) - x

can someone explain this step in detail, thank you
