When x is divided by 3, the remainder is z. In terms of z, which of the following could be equal to x?

the supposedly correct answer is 3+z, and these are the other answers:
z - 3

3 - z

3z

9 + 2z

The explanation says just plug in 5 for x and you'll get 2 for z and it will work, however, this just works with 3, 4, and 5 since they only go in once. Numbers like 7,8, and 100 don't work. Help, this is supposed to be an easy question and I'm (usually) very good at math, I've aced practice math sections before.

if my math teacher had me drawing the viseca pisces; building magick squares; drawing pentagrams on stuff; learning about fibbonacci, and the golden mean; doing mandelbrot fractals; and looking at triangles all the time, not only would i have paid more attention, but all of my subsequent experiences with psychedellic drugs would have made a lot more sense.

is there any good reason why this stuff doesn't get taught in high schools? or was i just paying even less attention than i remember, and missed it all, despite how fascinating i find it?

how do i know that the "numbers" "add up" to what you say they do? unless pythogoras, plato, fibbonacci, mandelbrot, or pretty much any sumerian and/or mayan person comes to me in a hullocinogenic dreamscape and tells me directly that this stuff is true, i just don't think that i can buy it.

i defy any of you to challenge my logic.

What are the steps to expanding (y^3 + 8)(y^3 - 1) ? I know the answer is (y +2)(y^2 - 2y +4)(y - 1)(y^2 + y +1). But how do you get there? How do you expand (y^3 + 8) and (y^3 - 1) seperately? Also, what about (27x^4 + 8x)?

I know what the answers are but I just don't know how to get to it. Can somebody help?

Thank you!!
