The acidic waste from a students experiment needs to be disposed of, but puring it down the sink would increase the impact of acid rain on the local water supply. Explain how you could determin ethe amount of limestone needed to neutralize the environmental impact of the experiment (assume that the limestone is mainly calcium carbonate). Wrtie balanced equations for any reactions you intend to use

I somewhat understand Le Chatelier's Principle and equilibrium but this lab hasn't really explained much which is giving me a hard time answering its Analysis Questions. Please help.

"Explain why BTB is green in neutral water solution. In terms of Le Chatelier's principle why does it turn yellow when acid is added, and blue when base is added?"

I always thought BTB turns these colors because of its function as an acid/base detector. I didn't know there was an inside explanation behind it. How to explain this behavior in terms of Le Chatelier's Principle?

Okay, Answers crew, do any of you have pH paper and Softsoap lying about? I would like to know the pH of softsoap because I suspect that it is too alkaline for my skin and causing an unpleasant allergic reaction on my hands, but I have no pH paper and therefore no way to verify this hypothesis. Can anyone test this for me or otherwise provide information on the alkalinity of Softsoap? Thanks. (In case you need the extra info, it's the clear kind, nothing special, just basic Softsoap clear hand soap.)

IN every problem copper is my cathode but the anode changes such as one is copper then iron and lead, magnesium, and so forth. It asks me to complete anode half- reaction and cathode half - reaction and then the cell reaction. I dont really know how to go abou7t this maybe if someone could walk me through one of the above examples such as copper copper or copper iron then i could do the rest. Copper is the cathode in every problem the other metal is the anode? Can someone please explain this to me? Not only do i Have this assignment to turn in soon but it will be on my next test. My chemistry teacher told me that arsenic is (or can be) naturally occuring in almonds. Is this true? And if it is, why don't we get sick? Because I read in a book of mine that arsenic is lethal in doses as small as 65 milligrams. So if I eat a box of chocolate almonds, why don't I get sick?
