Rare snowfall across South Africa

Snow fell on South Africa's biggest city Johannesburg for the first time in 25 years as icy temperatures gripped vast swathes of the country, the weather office said.

"It (the snow) is by no means freakish but I would certainly classify it as rare," said Kevin Rae, assistant manager of forecasting at the South African Weather Service in Pretoria.

Forecasters said snow was reported in the southern Johannesburg township of Soweto and the posh northern suburb of Sandton, as well as the nearby towns of Carletonville and Westonaria.

Johannesburg last had snow on September 11, 1981.

"Sleet has been recorded occasionally since then, but never snow," added climatologist Tracey Gill.

Bloemfontein, the capital of the central Free State province, got its first snow in 12 years, receiving 13 centimetres (5.2 inches).

Panorama last night showed how beer and football have fused to create a subculture of degenerate yobs, who bring shame to football and to their countries. It's not just England that harbours these halfbreeds, Germany and Holland create them too, but the English seem to create a malevolent vitriol that exceeds any one else.

I partied with the Italians in Piccadilly, and they were wonderful company, I would think twice before entering an English crowd.

I believe that these people are empty-headed, dissatisfied, mis-educated and ignorant, as well as being utterly selfish.

So, what can our society do.

PS watch the answers carefully...they may indicate what we English have to put up with in terms of ignorance.

Israel is hated by almost everyone. We are trying to defend ourselves from hizbullah, and in return, the world, except for the US, criticises us. Why? We are defending ourselves, our bad northern neighbour should be punished for its neglect of harbouring terrorists. We killed hundreds of lebanese civilians, but isn't that ok since we are defending ourselves?

Just take a look at the “always-on-the-right” Jews, the “always-we-have-been-victimized” Arabs and the rest of the self-righteous terrorists of this world. …Why is humanity so hell bent of murder, mayhem and destruction? It seems like every vicious human group on this planet has the PERFECT reason to justify its criminal and barbarous acts of inhumanity!!! When will we finally learn that a lasting peace can never be achieved by bombings and acts of terrorism (on everyone’s side)? This is a time when the Muslim nations should come together to help other Muslim nation. I am so ashamed of the other Muslim countries for standing by and allowing Israel to analate Lebanon! It is haraam to stand by and let this happen. I am an older woman and if there was any way I could go and defend Lebanon I would! How can you, Muslim nations, stand by and let this happen!
