You are absolutely right. The stupidity of driving like that even without alcohol is dumb, but to add fuel to the fire.

That is a very good point I wish others would key in on.
He was driving almost 86 miles an hour after drinking.
As I understand, people at the party suggested they drive him home but he refused. I realize he is a celebrity, but come on. They should have taken his keys and not even let him on the road. It's not their fault he drove, but that would have been the right thing to do.

It makes you wonder whether other issues were on his mind that led him to drinking beyond what he should (esp if a 'recovering alcoholic') and why he went there alone. It seems like somethign wasn't right to begin with and he made a really bad choice that luckily didn't end up worse. The anti-semitic comments are petty in comparison and can be explained by his drinking.

He's done a number on his reputation now hasn't he?

I don't know if you are anti-Semitic, ignorant, or both. First of all, the word"Jew" is not an adjective. It is a proper noun, and is always capitalized.Secondly, You should have said, "Mel Gibson's comments about Jews....". You asked your question in a way to show your anti-Jewish bias.
The ironic part of this is I agree with you. Driving under the influence is more important than Gibson's remarks.

I hope they give him the same sentence they would give any schmo nobody they caught. I think people are upset because of his wiggling and squirming about the antisemitic parts of Passion of the Christ. This was his real side coming out.
Alcohol doesn't make you somebody else. It just strips off the layer of politeness we put on in public.

You're right. If the cop hadn't stopped him, he might be dead now.
