We are going to relocate to New York. The work area will be around City Colledge of New York and Comlumbia University. Anyone has any suggestions about which area to rent for an affordable apartment? Nearby or about 30 minutes commute one-way are both ok, I tried Craigslist but get very confused about the location names ...

Also, shall we bring our cars to New York? We have two now. Shall we bring one or none of them? Just a bit not sure whether it is ok to go to work or buy grocery without a car...

Thanks a lot!

Where to buy authentic Prada leather dress shoes?
Hi all,
I want to buy good authentic Prada leather dress shoes. I went to a few places in New York city such as DSW and Century 21, etc. They have many shoes on sale. But I found a problem with this type of shopping experience: whenever there is a good deal, it will already be grabbed by somebody else many days ago and it will wait for me to get it. The result was either lack of good deals on good designer brands, or lack of availability of suitable sizes for me. Thus I want to try the alternative method -- online shopping. I am specifically looking for good deals for Prada leather dress shoes(professional and formal). I browsed and googled and found quite a bunch of online shops with a variety of prices and models. Could you please recommend some reliable and big shops that are reputable for authenticity and with good deals? Thank you very much. By the way, does anybody know what are the "loafers"? Are they formal and professional f

So how did you cope without air conditioners or fans operating back then? On that sweltering Wednesday Evening, of July 13, 1977 I was in the comfort and safety of my home, with my family. While I watched outside the livingroom window, I noticed some of the lights of the streetlamps were out. Then at approximately at 9:15 p.m. the madness had began, at first I thought it was just my neighborhood, but it's the entire city affected by the blackout. Stores were looted, ransacked and vandalized. There were even some arsonous fires throughout the night, in most sections of The Bronx, Brooklyn and Manhattan. Me and my family was well prepared, of having some flashlights handy for use. I turned on a small transistor radio, which only receives AM frequency. There was no running water in the apartment. Power was restored by the morning, sure was a shame for food, being thrown out from the refrigerator.

According to NYC Local Law 87 ALL NYC bussinesses are required to recycle any recyclable waste. But, I have yet to see one theater in NYC make an effort to recycle the thousands of Playbills that are thrown out on a daily basis. Why is this? Is there a loophole that I'm missing?

Where to buy quality branded dress shoes(men's) at affordable price in NYC? I recently moved to NYC and began to work in the financial industry. My work requires me to wear quality collared shirts and good branded formal dress shoes all day long. I am considering buying the dress shoes. But I am not very familiar with brands. Of course I can go to expensive places to buy expensive shoes. However I am a new graduate freshly out of school and I don't have lots of cash floating. Where are the places that I can buy quality branded shoes at discounted and affordable prices? Where and when are the discounts and deals? Are there places with lots of malls and shops for shoes, something like an outlet, so I can shop at one place for all needs, instead of rushing to different places? I am still not very used to the public transportation in the big city. And I really want to save time. What brands are considered good brands for men? I hope to buy $200-$600 shoes at a discounted $100-$300 price.
