Women's Health - October 2007

I started using the Nuvaring last Monday when I thought my period had started; the directions saying using it the first day and it will wok immediately. I wasn't on any hormonal birth control beforehand. Anyway, the day I inserted it I had a pinkish discharge which usually means I'm starting my period...however, my period was extremely light and didn't get heavier until a couple days later. Now it's been a week and 3 days and it seems that I'm still on my period. I don't really know what's going on, and now I'm afraid that I put the ring in too soon and it won't work. I've noticed that I didn't have any cramping or headaches which I have every time I get my period (horrible cramps) so that makes me think that it's okay, and also I spoke to my doctor briefly about how my period was light in the beginning and she said that was normal. Anyway, does this sound normal? Should I take it out and try again when my period starts next month?

I have been taking yaz for 7 mths. Im a sunday start and last month I was a week late. I started bleeding on the sat. after I was supposed to start. It was only like 2 days that i bled. I have never had a period be late, ive never skipped, and i havnt had one that short.(im extremely regular) So this month I didnt start until the sunday after I started my placebo week. 7 days late. I had blood for 2 days again and the wham it just stopped. I even took a preg. test...negative. Is this cause for alarm or have i just made a change for the better? Professional opinions would be great also.

i've been trying to concieve for a few months. i know it can take a year, but im already getting really discouraged. how can i improve my chances and how do i stay hopeful? also, my periods were on time, but for the past 2 months they've been wacky. should i buy an ovulation kit?

I already have my period, but since then I've been having it for 5 days straight. Is that normal? Or was it only suppose to be 5 days when you FIRST get it? I got mine at the end of May.

i'm 21 and i've always had constipation problems but after i had ny ddaughter 3 months ago by c-section it became really painful every time i have a bowel movement. i also bleed too. i think its hemmroids. i've been taking fiber supplement for a while and it helps me go every day but i dont know wat to do about the pain. every time i think it might be healing, i use the bathroom again and it starts all over again. i'm so terrified to go to the bathroom. i even cry sometimes. will it ever heal?

doctor appontment on tuesday but my supervisor wont let me go to my appontment it starts at 3 :45 pm and i have to go to this appontment some one please help i have asked her to change my set time to 8:30am to 2:30 pm

I'm 15 and I might need to be put on birth control to regulate my period because lately it's been irregular and I was in sooo much pain today that I had to go to the nurse's office and leave home early. But idk if I should see a man or woman doctor? I heard men doctors can be more careful and gentle than women doctors, but I just don't know.... What do you think?

I know they say when you're pregnant that you get a cramp like feeling but my cramps usually hurt more than this so I dont think its that. This feels like a tight muscle in my pelvis area.
Anyone have any idea what it could be??

P.S I know its not an infection because I just got off an antibiotic.

peroid in 3 years now....I went on the pill and away it went. I had some hormone level tests which were high and my doc said that they were quite high which is indicative that I am NOT menopausal or premenapausal. So just now my GYN called and said she wanted to repeat the blood levels again cuz this is very unusual. I'm going out tomorrow to do the blood tests and it won't be dictated till probably late next week or something. Does anyone know about stuff like this...I'm 45 but haven't had my period in 3 yrs....what's up with that??? Only serious answers please. Thanks in advance!

I am anemic..my count was 5 and is now upto 20 but should be 30. I have also found out that I have 2 Fibroids but not sure of size til Tues.Do they shrink on their own before menopause? I am 39 yrs old and my periods are very heavy (tampon plus 2 pads) that I do not want to leave the house for 3 days. From reading I have found out that Fibroids are most likely the cause of being anemic & heavy flow. I am trying to weigh my options before I go see the doctor on Tuesday. I had my tubes tied about 8 yrs ago so children are not part of the equation.

Last week I went to see my doctor cause I was having painful bowel movements and there was blood on the surface of the stools and on the toilet paper and he told me that I had an anal fissure and he gave me a prescription for a laxative and told me to take colace and told me to come back in a couple of weeks. I have an appointment to see my doctor on Tuesday. I've had anal fissures in the past and I'm still experiencing painful bowel movements. I did some research online and came across some information about Irritable Bowel Syndrome so I'm wandering if I have IBS cause I do have some of the symptoms. My question is should I talk to my doctor about this or should I just go see a gastroentrologist or both? Also what kinds of tests would they be running on me to determine if I have IBS?

I posted 2 other questions bout this. Sorry if you guys are getting annoyed, I am just aggravated!

Had unprotected sex 4 times on the 10th of this month, got my expected period the very next day ( i knew it was coming, thats why it was unprotected sex) for 2 days now I feel so fluish and off.. my breasts hurt BAD all day, I have low stomach cramps,lower back ache, Increase in vaginal discharge (its like milky white substance), and I feel so hot! what the heck is going on?? Oh, my period was gone 2 days after I got it. I broke down and bought a pregnancy test because it is the ONLY think I can think of.. Of course it was neg.. even IF I am pregnant, Its way too soon to tell from just having sex 8 days ago. If its pregnancy, would I be feeling it so soon??

Do I still need to worry bout missing my period next month?
I honestly had no idea one could become pregnant from having sex when they are expecting their period.

I would go to the Dr, but this is not an emergency.
