It is kind of similar to what happened in the 80s during the crack epidemic (without the pain and bloodshed that the drug gives).
Crack became cheaper and more widely available to the masses during that time. As a result, and lot of people got turned on and the cartels became millionaires.
CD's could be given to the population in the same way: cheap and easy to produce, with only money in mind.
Up until the early 80s, LP records (vinyl) was the way to listen to music. Music in vinyl makes you appreciate the record more for what its worth, and you can experience it more. You older people out there know what im talking about (im just 20)
