I do this, silly as it seems. When I get home at the end of the day, I pat the steering wheel in my car and say "Thank you for taking me where I needed to go today, and keeping me safe." When I can't get a jar to open, or if I can't get a picture hung straight, I say something to it like, "Now damnit, behave yourself and do as you're told!" Oddly enough, most times when I do this, the offending object complies, and all is resolved. I sometimes do this at work, and people look at me like I'm off my rocker. Am I the only nutbag out there who does this, or are there other freaks like me?

There was a middle-aged couple that had two stunningly beautiful blonde
teen-aged daughters. They decided to try one last time for the son they always
wanted.
After months of trying, the wife became pregnant and, sure enough, nine months
later delivered a healthy baby boy. The joyful father rushed to the nursery to
see his new son. He took one look and was horrified to see the ugliest child he
had ever seen.
He went to his wife and said that there was no way he could be the father of
that child.
"Look at the two beautiful daughters I fathered." Then he gave her a stern
look and asked, "Have you been fooling around on me?"
The wife just smiled sweetly and said, "Not this time”.

I mean (for those who don't know) I asked those questions about conversation and friendships during trips because... I've come to realise that I've made no friends during my travels (and i do travel a lot). I can't even remember a conversation I had on a train or plane (I always listen to music read or play on my lap and never pay attention to the others).
So, which is the thing that frightens us so much? What do you think?
