Why is it that the only decent new songs are watered down, simple versions of old songs with a lot less complexity and trite lyrics?

I know they ripped off hooks and chord sequences in my day too - technically "Stray Cat Strut" is "Walk Don't Run" by the Ventures, for example - but at least they changed the tempo, the lyrics and the whole theme of the song.

And Sheryl Crow - ALL of her good songs are blatant rip-offs. All I Wanna Do is Stuck In the Middle with You.

If you're gonna rip someone off, rip off Willie Dixon and Robert Johnson like they did in the 1960s and 1970s!

You're familliar with the iPod "shillouette" commercials, right?
They have a new one, following the shillouette theme, except this time around it's all crazy bold colors with fireworks, oblong squiggles, etc. There's a song playing in the background, but the only lyrics I can remember go something like this:
"The boy's not right in the head ... Ba-Da-Baa-Dum-Dum-Da-Da"
It sounds like it's a re-make of an older song, and it's got a catchy, up-beat tune, with male vocals.
Anyone know the name of the song, or who sings it?
