Iowa is my favourite album, because it's Slipknot at their heaviest and most brutal. Their self-titled debut was absolutely wicked though, with songs like "Surfacing", "Spit It Out" and [Sic] being some of the most vicious songs in history. But you just can't go past the all-out onslaught of "People=Sh*t", "Disasterpiece",
"Skin Ticket", "Metabolic" and "The Heretic Anthem".
I was a little undecided about Vol. 3 when I first heard it, I thought Corey was singing too much (although I just adore Vermilion Pt. 2) and the songs weren't fast and heavy enough. But when you give a few hard listens to songs like "The Blister Exists", "Three Nil", "Before I Forget" and the evil "Pulse Of The Maggots", you realise the brutality and ferocity is still there in spades.
I am anticipating their next album more than anything I've ever anticipated before in my life. I have no doubt in my mind that it will be one of the best metal albums of this decade.
What do you think?
