I know there are liberals and conservatives in every state. However, in some places, the liberal or conservative way of thinking when it comes to politics is more prevalent. Also, in places that are more liberal, more so-called "progressive" thought is emphasized in education, and "alternative lifestyles" are more tolerated. Conservative states are (I believe) more accepting of other people's backgrounds and cultures than liberal states, but relationships with family and friends are more common and appreciated, and good morals are more often taught by parents rather than those lame character education programs.
Most liberal: California, New Jersey, Maryland, New York, Massachusetts, Vermont
Most conservative: Texas, Utah, Oklahoma, Wyoming, Mississippi, Alabama
I live in Kentucky: Culturally, we're conservative, but about 75% of our state's House of Representatives, as well as most of our mayors and county judges are liberal democrats. Odd, isn't it?
