Help: can you help me come up with a formula for the number of regions?
The "missing" region

Mark a number of points unevenly round a circle and join every point to every other point. How many regions has the circle been divided into? Can you find a formula to predict the number of regions Y given the number of points X?

The diagram alongside shows that there are Y = 8 regions created with X = 4 points. The table below gives some more values which you can check if you like!
Points X 2 3 4 5 6 7
Regions Y 2 4 8 16 31 57
Differences D 2 4 8 15 26

Can you find a (polynomial) function for Y(X) ?

--------------------------------------------

I need the answer to this

a clue, the number of lines is found here:

The Mystic Rose diagram lets you see how to find the formula N * (N-1) /2 that calucates these numbers

My Favorite Place…

My favorite place is in a book
A door is opened
I’m gone
My problems fade away
I can fly
I go away to never return
I am at the bottom of oceans
Or the highest of mountains
I feel so free
Another mystery to crack
Another adventure to experience
Lowry, Rowling, Steinbeck
Take me on a ride

I need to find a poem based on the concept of identity. The poet should be relatively well known and the poem of decent length (decent being abou maybe 20 lines or so?) for analysis in a paper. I wonder if anyone could help me out? Any aspect of identity can be explored.

The restructuring of the economy and resulting efficiency gains have contributed to a more than tenfold increase in GDP since 1978. Measured on a purchasing power parity (PPP) basis, China in 2005 stood as the second-largest economy in the world after the US, although in per capita terms the country is still lower middle-income and 150 million Chinese fall below international poverty lines. Economic development has generally been more rapid in coastal provinces than in the interior, and there are large disparities in per capita income between regions. The government has struggled to: (a) sustain adequate job growth for tens of millions of workers laid off from state-owned enterprises, migrants, and new entrants to the work force; (b) reduce corruption and other economic crimes; and (c) contain environmental damage and social strife related to the economy's rapid transformation.

On friday I've got this project due for a class called Contemporary World Problems (CWP). The basic thing is, you have to pick a world problem, pick a specific place, and do a big, grand, entertaining presentation on it.

So this was my plan: Kenya, starvation, make a story book, read it to the class, interact w/ questions and hand out candy or w/e.

That just isn't going to work out because I don't have the time to make a book by now, nad I get frustrated because I am HORRIBLE at drawing.

SO. what are some alternatives? I want to keep Kenya & starvation since I already did my map... and use teaching possibly... b/c just posterboard presentations are not entertaining enough...

It has to be something where I am roleplaying though. PLEASE HELP!

i got hw on sonnet ... there are some question which ask about the turn ,... but i really connfuse
like...
SONNET 29
When, in disgrace with fortune and men's eyes,
I all alone beweep my outcast state
And trouble deaf heaven with my bootless cries
And look upon myself and curse my fate,
Wishing me like to one more rich in hope,
Featured like him, like him with friends possess'd,
Desiring this man's art and that man's scope,
With what I most enjoy contented least;
Yet in these thoughts myself almost despising,
Haply I think on thee, and then my state,
Like to the lark at break of day arising
From sullen earth, sings hymns at heaven's gate;
For thy sweet love remember'd such wealth brings
That then I scorn to change my state with kings.

< and ... what line the turn usually appeared in other sonnet ....
