I understand how much better blue ray is than hd-dvd (although most experts see real no difference in image quality), but I think it was a major mistake for Sony to push so hard on this blue ray drive. They are losing $250 per unit they are selling and can't get enough out. Meanwhile, the 360 is growing a stronger customer base.
I think it was wise of Microsof to launch without HD-DVD because the standard is still not set with valid arguments on both sides.
In the end, I think that HD-DVD will win out not because it is better, but that people know "HD-DVD" means high definition. My parents have no idea what Blue Ray is. VHS was inferior to BETA back in the 80's but VHS won out.
Plus it appears that HD-DVD drives will be cheaper - money is always a big factor.
