Or can you just save on the machine? I don't know too much about game systems and I am buying one for my hubby. I want to make sure I get everything for him so I am not running out after christmas to pick stuff up. Thanks!

PS2 is a great system, and you need not jump on the hype band wagon with the ps3
......
you should make sure you have bought an extra controller, if he would like to play with friends.... the main system only comes with one, and yes you should definately buy a memory card for it.... make sure it is definately designated for PS2.....
thats really about all you need to get extra, besides games.
grand theft auto- san andreas is the only game ive ever bought for PS2..... its a great title

You need to buy a memory card as well in order to save (advantage you only need to take the card to plaes to continue but for xbox which saves on the machine you need to take your machine as well) I like both and therefore own both

I believe you need to buy a memory card, I just packed one up and there was a memory card attached to it.

Yes you should because when i got one i made sure i bought one ! memory cards save your game, for you and restore the game character's health

yuppz.... you need to buy memory card for playstation 2..
1 memory card have 8MB in it.....for here it cost about $30
but if you buy a new playstation 2 it should come with a
free black colour memory card.....
so no worries......hahas
