I helped my son with his Wii, but he earned the money himself to actually buy it. I sat down with him and we made a chore list with agreed upon amounts for each item, if he did everything he could earn up to $30 a week, the most so far about $23. This showed me commitment.
The other side to talk to your dad about is the fun, physical part of the Wii. We have gotten up off our lazy butts to play Wii sports, and had a blast as a family playing bowling and golf. The titles are largely non-violent and family friendly. We all laughed playing Rayman and felt the heat of Alliance.

Take this from a dad of 4 who is also a gamer.
!st convince him that games are a great way to bond with family and that the wii is a new way to game. Tell him how you want to teach him how much fun gamming can be. Also let him know that you are gunna have to learn this new system so your both on even ground. Its also activ no more mindless sitting on the bean bag blindly looking at the TV thumping your thumbs. Most parents want to be included in there kids free time choices so make it a bonding partner ship and let him know the new game can be a reward based education. that if you do somthing great at home or in school he can offer up time to share on the new game or if you goof up then he can take time away frome it. also have him be a part of the buying of games suggest all the info about the esrb rating system and how most nintindo games are kid frindly.
this should help good luck

Yes, you can probably get him to pay it all. Rather than ask him especially when you know he will be pissed, just don't say a word. Yep, don't say anything.
Instead cut out lots of pics of Wii system. Add game pics. too. Put them all over the house especially all over your room. On the frig put a very good pic. of the Wii with the following written on it, "If you think that I deserve something good, this is all I want. Thanks ahead of time. Even if you don't get it, I still love you."
If Dad asks you, don't say or comment much. Just let him know it is what it is. (This is call keeping the peace.)Then from now on out, you do your part and show him that you deserve Wii. You know your dad best so before he asks you to mow the lawn or take out the trash, do it and do it happily.
Know that in your heart you will get the Wii by Christmas time no matter if Dad chooses to buy it or not. I will gurantee that you will get the system even if somehow you mysteriously fall on extra money and get it all by yourself.

well i had the same dilema, but my dad is a bussinesman so i threw a pitch (like bussinessmen do) I did this by showing him how it can help and aid to him and meet HIS intrests. I did this with my whole family so thet everyone found a benefit in it and everyone wanted to pitch into it and everyone was looking forward to it. For my dad it was Madden. He loves football and showing him the madden demonsrtations online got him fired up, i kept the topic in the air and showed my sister "smooth moves" so that she would like the dance moves since she is a football cheerleader. And for my mom i showed her trama center, because she likes being a sergeon. So I suggest showing him the full benefits of having one and show how it will benefit everyone not just u..k?

agree to work more around the house, and really mean it and tell him it will keep you at home and not out somewhere you shouldn't be
