I have been thinking about this question recently, i hope someone can help me clear this up. When a stock "splits" i.e. its share price halves and quantity doubles, how does it appear in the stock market the following day, is the price quoted as half of original value, with a drop of 50% quoted, or is there a different system?

We basically have to pick a scenario and give financial advice. The scenario I picked was the following:
" A 35-year-old married couple with two young children want to sell their townhouse and buy a larger house in a time of low interest rates and low inflation. The would also like to trade their 8-year -old minican for a nw fashionable SUV"

How will low interest rates and low inflation affect the advice I give?

If i buy shares in a company and then, at the end of the year, the company makes huge profits does some of that profit go to shareholders? or the only profit to make off of shares is if the price goes up and I sell the shares?

I am 17 years old, almost 18. I am interested in investing in the stock market. My grandpa has taught me a little bit about it. I need more advice...maybe from somebody who recently invested and succeeded or somebody who works in this field.

Things I don't understand:
-How much money I'd need to put in an investment(for example I don't know if I can just put $100 or if it has to be thousands, so please help with that)
-How to buy stock without a broker

I'd like to hear from anyone if they feel they can help me out.

Thanks,
Sam

I have designed a website to upload daily stock market results obtained from my country newspapers to broadcast to the worldwide audience (fund managers and investors) who has bought shares in many companies listed in the local stock exchange. Who are those will show interest to advertise at this type of website? Is there a website that promote ads for my website?

I currently have $22,000 in a 401k I contribute $3,000 per year + a gain of $100 per year in addition. I am agresively invested, Historically I gained roughly 7.5% over the last couple years. What is a realistic % gain in the market? What should I have as a goal as for as how much should I plan to have at retirement in 30 years from now? Is there any way to plan on the value of my retirement? What will one million dollars buy 30 years from now?

i miss the long bond ! yes they brought it back3 yrs ago but it ain't the same..that lower risk 10 year remains the bellwether. i miss trading bond futures...they're not as liquid and haven't been for a decade. trading ten year futures is boring...5 yrs more so... need to bring back the days when bonds moved 3-4-5 points like in the 80's and early 90's..with a steep curve, and even at sub-5%, our idiots at treasury still think that financing america through lower 2 yr treasury rates is cheaper than through long bonds. treasury is committing a mistake similiar to those who in the last 4 years financed their mortgages with low teaser rate arms and now face higher long term fixed rates as opposed to having bot homes at long 30 yr fixed costs of 5%. but of course, uncle sam bailed them out last week and froze their rates ( in a free makt economy ???) through the HOPE NOW ALLIANCE ( you gotta be kidding me...HOPE!)
