I like to trade penny stocks and always get information on stocks that the price of buying and selling (as all the brokers I know buy/sell in 5000 shares blocks max before again adding another brokerage fee. Doesn't his limit most stocks under 50 cents (due to the brokeage fees) that could be day traded.

I have a debate going with my boyfriend:
How much should I put in my 401k?
The minimum to get my employer to match my investment or the maximum allowed?

I'm 24 years old, I dont really have major "bills" (cell phone, car insurance, and $200 rent) and I live pretty well off of what I make ($25,000 not alot but once again I dont have a high cost of living and I just graduated college a few months ago)

1. My boyfriend says I should only put in what my employer will match and invest the rest on my own (he is 28 years old and has $33,000 in his 401k)

2. My parents say I should put the maximum in allowed, because it is pre tax and I should start a habit of putting it away now so that way I will never miss that income (I wont get used to money and then decide to start investing and have to cut back in other areas) (my dad has over a million in one 401k account)

Any advice?

Earnings does not include money used for depreciation and amortization.
I think amortization and depreciation are payments for debts and interest.

From Yahoo Financial Glossary:
Amortization: The repayment of a loan by installments.

Depreciation: A non-cash expense that provides a source of free cash flow. Amount allocated during the period to amortize the cost of acquiring long-term assets over the useful life of the assets.

Cash flow: In investments, cash flow represents earnings before depreciation, amortization, and non-cash charges. Sometimes called cash earnings. Cash flow from operations (called funds from operations by real estate and other investment trusts) is important because it indicates the ability to pay dividends.

I think the "Efficient Market" hypothesis is bunk, yet there is so much written about it that it has become the predominant view. Do you know of any sites with academic papers / reports / articles etc. disproving this hypothesis? Perhaps in behaviorism studies?

(The best I have found so far is an academic paper studying the "World Cup effect" - countries that lose the world cup experience declines in their stock markets.)

I am from Taiwan and currently live in US. I am trying to decide to invest US funds through US or taiwan broker. The management fee in taiwan is much higher but the brokers said that the capital gain is US-tax free (and tax free in taiwan too) because the fund companey is located in some specific country. I highly dought it! Does anyone know the answer?

Also, say if I invest in a Japan fund through a US broker, dose Japan takes tax on the capital gain too or only the US goverment?

Thanks!

I have both a utility & design (medical device).

If you are me:
1- How you should do the selling of it (them) to the best buyer?

2- How you should select/choice Where & How to find the buyer with the best credentials?

3- How you should select a group of persons (partners) to trust-on/in?

4- If you do not have the real 'machinary' to create an industry to manufacture it... For how much you should sell your invent? Minimum? Maximum?

5- Do you may create inmediately a web site to sell it? But the internet is world wide... and you want franchises at least 3 other countries... What you do?

Please, any comment or suggestion will be appreciated.

I've been watching put and call options on GOOG, and last Friday was expirations day for JULY options, and on that day, the prices of all the AUGUST options dropped a lot, much more than was justified by the stock price change. Both puts and calls dropped, and I can't figure out why. Thanks for any insight.
