I am trying to say, 5x5 is 25. If you multiply 1 less than 5 with one more than 5, you should get the same answer. 5 is the geometrical mean of 4 and 6 .... While I am decreasing one five by 1,,,,,,, I am increasing the other five by 1. therefore the results must be the same

An inventor of a new product believes that the cost of producing the product is given by the function, C(x)=1.75x + 7000.

If that inventor charges $4.00 per unit, then her profit for producing and selling x units is given by the function, P(x)=2.25x - 7000
(a) profit if she sells 2000 units
(b) profit if she sells 5000 units
(c) Break even point for sales

When most people read a theorem and its proof, they usually check every step of the proof without taking advantage of many other important and useful principles that can be learned when reading proofs. Similar issues occur when people learn algorithms, definitions, mathematical methods, formulas, etc. I have addressed these issues and many more in my book. How do I get it published?

In most mathematics, it is already assumed that the natural numbers are embedded in the reals. However, this has never been proven or done. What are the typical rigorous methods to get around this problem?

There are n boys and n girls at a dance and every boy dances with a different girl on every dance. On the first dance there are n! different arrangements of boys and girls. Suppose that on the second dance no boy dances with the same girl. With that restriction, there are D_n (the nth derrangement) number of ways to arrange the boys and the girls on the second dance. Given the m-th dance, how many ways can you arrange the boys and the girls such that no boy is dancing with a girl he has previously danced with????

Questioners: why can't you take the time to make sure your questions are well worded and complete? People should not have to guess what the question is. Also, if you are careless in your wording, spelling and details, it would seem to me that you are likely to be careless and unappreciative in your evaluation of the answers you receive. I checked the stats and about 65% of all questions go to a vote. There are a few reasons for this but it is mainly the fault of those who ask the questions. Most people try to give quality answers and they deserve some consideration. And if you are asking a mathematical question, make sure the 'brackets' are where they should be. Also, when you ask a question, questions which are similar, and which have already been asked, are shown. So quit asking about "proofs" of 1=2. And, if I see the "where is the missing (or extra) $" question, one more time, I think I'll puke on my keyboard. So Askers, show some respect. Have a good day.
