Scientists often look at other galaxies and by studing them in the telescope they seem to know what elements that galaxy mostly has.

So my question is are all the elements in the known universe been found or are they using the current knowledge we have on elements to make this prediction?

Compared to solids and liquids, the particles of gases are very far apart. Because of the significant amount of space between particles, gases are easily compressed.

Using what you know about the compressibility of gases, explain why oxygen in a SCUBA tank is compressed.

If 5g of butter are burned in a calorimeter containing 1 L of water (density of water is 1g/mol), the temperature of the water rises from 21°C to 66°C. determine the amount of energy that is transferred to the water.

Q = mCT
=(1005g)(4.184J/g•°C)(66°C - 21°C)
=189221.4J

I think I'm wrong though... Will you help please?

Okay. I have 127.2 grams of C7H5(NO2)3 or 0.5600 mol C7H5(NO2)3 or 3.37x10^23 particles of C7H5(NO2)3. I need to somehow determine the number of N atoms. How could I go about doing so? I assume I need to multiply one of the amounts by a fraction or something but I don't know the formula.

Calculate the pH of each of the solutions and the change in pH to 0.01 pH units caused by adding 10.0 mL of 2.73-M HCl to 550. mL of each of the following solutions.

Change is defined as final minus initial, so if the pH drops upon mixing the change is negative.

a) water

pH before mixing=7
pH after mixing= ?

The pH after adding an acid I know is going to be <7. I am just having trouble calculating it.

It's got 6 letters. The fourth one is an I.
I've narrowed it down to these:

Barium
Cerium
Cesium
Curium
Erbium
Osmium
Indium
Radium

It's a metal and is rare, but is found in some photoelectric cells and in atomic clocks.

If you are given 626mmhg for pressure, to solve for volume, in the above formula,do you have to change this into atm pressure, or can you use either in the P part of the equation? Which would be 626mmhg/760mmhg for the conversion to atmoshere pressure. If I knew this, the gas laws would be a little easier. Thanks for help, I like chemistry, but it can get a little hairy!

This is kind of a lame question, but I'm not exactly sure how in depth the answer has to be:
When you check your car windshield tonight (or tomorrow morning) explain why it will be wet. Base your answer upon chemical principles.
Thanks in advance for any help!
