Oxidation numbers?
can you please help me with my homework?
i am having trouble in the chemical formula and oxidation numbers.
it states here that i should compute for the oxidation number of calcium in calcium nitrate, oxygen in barium iodide, nickel in Ni(NO3)2, sulfur in sulfate ion and phosphorous in phosphate ion.?.please i need help!

Half life period is the time in which half of the atoms of a radioactive substances get disintegrated.For instance if I take 100 atoms of radium ,in 1600 yrs half of them (50)will undergo disintegration . What about another 50.Why they do not undergo the process of disintegration?How it is decided that which 50% will disintegrate?
