I'm addicted to this stuff, get home and am on my PC for a straight 5 hours, then my girl comes over on the weekend and plays and she's even stopped socialising cos she wants to SIM!

I was interested in beginning to play Final Fantasy, but on playstation 2 it starts in, like, part 10 or something.
Is it worth getting into or is it too late to start playing becuase I won't know the storyline of the game, or it doesn't matter much. I also saw that there was recently a movie out. By the way, I'm confused by roman numerals, but didn't a Final Fantasy game just come out, the number going backwards (part 7?), when it's supposed to be part 10 so far or do I have the numerals wrong?
