Oy, true gaming addictions (or any other kind) can be something!

I can't say that I'm addicted since I can put things down to get other things started, but there are times that I, like all of us just need 10 more minutes! ...and before I know it, the sun is coming up.

We are all are like anyone else who has a TV habit or some other thing... arrange their time so they can catch their show. Now that's not true addiction but it sometimes does involve making arrangements, maybe getting annoyed if stuff comes up, interference with social life and putting off other things that should be getting done, like studies and research papers. (here on Answers, there's a very high level of illiteracy - and that speaks volumes about what people do with their priorities)

It's actually very easy for people to get into 'ruts'. That includes waiting for the last minute to leave and get into the traffic to head to work or an appointment. Different but the same. Matter of degrees to my mind.

I think everyone is prone to these little obsessions for swatches of time in their lives. It is comforting to have a routine that one can control and enjoy. In the big picture, it will pass (unless it's a hard core drug addiction that is taking out the body too or similar).

Like for goodness sakes, have you ever known people in love? LOL!! Once they fall in love with someone, then all their time with their other friends goes *POOF*. They may still make it to work but if they have a really special date coming up, they might do weird things about their schedule. And what if they have a fight with their new love, it affects everything else they do.

And there are plenty of jokes about golfers and other sport fanatics who watch a funeral go by and maybe take off their hat as it goes by... the punchline being that it was their spouse's funeral. In real life, this does happen!

And of course, Maxis even makes a tribute to this this addiction thing with the grilled cheese addiction/aspiration which comes with Nightlife. :)

I guess my message is that most of this actually is normal human behavior to lock onto to something for a while and enjoy it. Learning when to tell the difference that it is pathologically affecting your life and priorities is a challenge everyone deals with from time to time with different aspects of their lives.

Anyway, to the commenter asking about new games coming up, a Sim type game that Will Wright (same inventor of the Sims) has been developing is SPORE.
http://www.spore.com

It's quite different than the Sims 1 and Sims 2 genre, but since Will Wright is behind it, that alone has gotten my interest in acquiring that game too. :) I hope I can save enough simoleans to buy it soon after it comes out. My plumb bob will probably be green or gold. :)

Maybe. I had the same problem. It is a virtual reality where you realize your needs and desire. I play for 12 hours and in the morning think that i have "2 vocation day" and I don t have to go to work. DANGER! Finally I uninstalled SIM for 3 mounts. Now, I play with moderation, but only because I know almost everything about SIM. How old i s your girl? Explain her the danger.
