my girl azurill turned into a boy maril help! (is this possible?!)

the game i am playing is ruby version. the azurill was born a girl. when it evolved as a marill it turned into a boy. i turned it into an azumarill but it stayed a boy. i just turned off the game when i happened so my azurill is still a girl. my azurill is lvl 60 i want it to evolve to get stronger. please tell me how to stop this from happening!

Could be worse, your boy could be turning into a pokemon.
I've actually noticed it happen to mine as well. Some of the pokemon only have one gender programmed, from memory, so when it evolves, its gender changes. I remember hearing about it way back at the beginning of pokemon games times.

Wait...how can you tell the gender? Most Pokemon have no difference in gender.
