I cannot believe there are adults out there that are that amazingly stupid! How do you not know that Canada borders the US to the north?? Or that Alaska is further west than California... especially when you sell real estate for a living!?!?

What do you think of this show? Is it broadcast in other countries? Do they think all Americans are this dumb?

I just read about the new reality show, "Arabs in America" on MBC. I would like to contact the network about an idea of creating another program about an African-American woman who travels to Egypt for the first time - who locals say has a similar look to Queen Neferiti. Perhaps entitled, "Who wants to marry an African-American Queen?" - (like the show about the Bachelor in which Egyptian men via to be her paramour! Seriously looking for contacts to pitch the reality series.

OK, so I only saw one episode, but this has got to be the worst adaptation of 1984 imaginable.

The decision to update the setting was ridiculous: 1984 is about 1948! It doesn't even have anything to do with the 80s - it has even less to do with the beginning of the 21st century. Do producers think viewers can't handle a story that's not actually set in their own century?

Why all the ad-libbing? Orwell's language is a model of prose: how can some modern actor come close?

OK: I can see where the decision to update the themes came from, but the heavy-handed treatment of race was out of place. It had nothing to do with Orwell's vision for his work.

And why make Winston a woman?

Does anyone have an explanation for this travesty?

Who exactly is it that decides which programmes get exported to the U.S. from the BBC and other networks like Channel 4 and ITV and which programmes don't?
There is a lot of great stuff that hasn't even been given a R1 DVD release, much less been aired on an American channel.
Why?

Serious to everyones opinions, I remember awhile back on the Millionaire show a girls first question was " aeolipile, a greek invention, was the first what? ". I say she was screwed there.. It was random crap that you wouldnt even know they had back then (I only remember two, Air conditioner , Steamengine.) Saddly it was the first steamengine.. Does everyone agree thats a tad bit hard for the first question?
