OK, so I only saw one episode, but this has got to be the worst adaptation of 1984 imaginable.

The decision to update the setting was ridiculous: 1984 is about 1948! It doesn't even have anything to do with the 80s - it has even less to do with the beginning of the 21st century. Do producers think viewers can't handle a story that's not actually set in their own century?

Why all the ad-libbing? Orwell's language is a model of prose: how can some modern actor come close?

OK: I can see where the decision to update the themes came from, but the heavy-handed treatment of race was out of place. It had nothing to do with Orwell's vision for his work.

And why make Winston a woman?

Does anyone have an explanation for this travesty?

Very funny. As you know, Big Brother was inspired by a motif in Orwell's 1984, rather than an attempt at an adaptation. Or at least I hope you do. Hmmmm.....

I am sure to pot smokers you are an inspiration of wisdom but for those of us without mental illness you make no sense. I am not sure if you are trying to be ironic or moronic
