"First off, we'd like to make something very clear--we do not encourage the formation of troll-hunting groups, nor do we give more power to those who participate in them.
Some groups were formed out of genuine concern and desire to help improve the quality of Answers, but they must still abide by community guidelines in the course of reporting abuse together. This includes:
- Not using multiple accounts to target users
- Reporting only what is abusive. For example, you should not report users simply for answering an abusive question
- Not sending warning or harassing emails to people, or posting them in questions and answers
Many people don't understand that they are helpful simply by reporting abusive content, or alerting the team to abuses that need more thorough investigation.
** People who form groups to report abuses are not given more weight than any other ordinary community member. **..."
