A fig is a fruit. The cake on the outside completely changes it from a fruit. I always called them cookies, but I guess they aren't really that, either. It's just a fig newton.

I just found out a few weeks ago....I used to love those things...but used to wonder what was crunchy in them....its wasp heads.....no kidding....they get caught up into the fruit somehow.....and when they are processed, they are ground up.....sooooooooo no more fruity cakes for me !!
