The bulk of this genre of music seems to induce mild depression. I was listening to these songs back to back in the car "I loved her first" and "Don't take the girl" (my husband LOVES country music, I can do without it) I have no idea who sings these songs, but by the time the latter song had finished playing, I was crying my eyes out!! Is this supposed to be uplifting entertainment? Oh my God!! My heart felt so sad inside because these really sounded like songs sung genuinely from experience and the life of the artists. I know rappers get a bad "rap", but at least Jay-Z and Tupac can tell a sad, sad story in verses that will have you bobbing your head to the beat and still get you amped up, feeling their spirit of overcoming these obstacles through creative poetry and rhyme and nice beats. I have nothing against country music, it's just a generally depressing form of expression. Why is that so?
