I'm not really sure,but my boyfriend used to work at Dunkin' Donuts and he would come home with round marks of flour around his fly.....hmmm.....any ideas?

I wonder what they do with the portion of the doughnut they cut to make the hole. I hope it doesn't go to waste.. probably recycled to make even more doughnuts..

They have a cutter that has a hole in the dough. The hole left in the middle is mixed back in with the dough to make more dough nuts. The donut holes are made separately.

I worked in a bakery before and we used a cookie cutter shape to stamp them out. I am sure Krispy Kreme or larger companies have molds ore stamp them out with machines.

I love those holes! You can eat many of them and it doesn't feel as bad as eating several doughnuts!!!

the baker simply just remove the center part of the circular dough

they form the dough around the hole... it takes concentration to see the hole though...
